Citizen’s Advisory Committee
The Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) is a group of waste industry representatives and citizens of the District (Monroe County) with an interest in waste and environmental issues. They serve to advise the District’s board of directors and management on policy, program, and budget issues.
Members typically meet monthly and can also serve on task forces studying a specific issue or problem to make recommendations to the board or take action on a project directly. All regular meetings and records are open to the public so you can attend, watch recordings, or review minutes from any meeting.

To be appointed, you must be a resident of the District, which includes all of Monroe County.
If you are a resident, you can simply submit a letter of interest describing a bit about yourself and your interest in serving on the committee by using the form below. Your submission will be provided to the Board for review at an upcoming regular meeting, and if it is approved you will be provided details for attending CAC meetings.
If you have any other questions, please contact the District at 812-349-2020 or by email.
All residents knowledgeable about waste and wanting to serve with the District are invited!
